Laser Hair Removal FAQs
-
The Cynosure Elite IQ is not a one-size-fits-all laser. It combines two industry-leading laser wavelengths, allowing us to safely and effectively treat all skin tones. Its standout feature is the Skintel Melanin Reader, an FDA-cleared technology that measures live skin melanin levels before treatment to automatically suggest customized, safe energy settings.
-
Absolutely! Thanks to its advanced dual-wavelength laser system, the Cynosure Elite IQ is FDA-approved and proven safe for all 6 Fitzpatrick skin types.
-
Most clients describe the feeling as a quick, mild snap of a rubber band accompanied by a gentle warming sensation. To keep you as comfortable as possible, the system blows continuous cold air over your skin during the entire treatment.
-
Laser hair removal provides permanent hair reduction. The laser destroys active hair follicles so they can no longer grow. Over time, natural hormonal shifts may activate a formant follicle, which can be treated with a quick touch-up session once or twice to keep the skin smooth!
-
There is no official downtime, meaning you can resume your daily activities right away! You might experience a little mild redness or warmth immediately after (similar to a light sunburn), but this usually disappears within a few hours. Just remember to keep the area cool, avoid hot showers, and wear sunscreen! Check out our full post-care guide here!
-
The magic behind laser hair removal happens over the next 1-2 weeks after your treatment as the hairs are naturally pushed out and shed. With each session, you’ll notice your hair growing back lighter, thinner, and softer, until they are destroyed completely.
-
Anywhere! Popular areas include the face, underarms, Brazilian, and lower legs.
-
The laser targets the pigment (melanin) in the root of the hair. Since white, gray, blonde, and red hair lack dark pigment, the laser can’t detect the root as effectively, making the treatment less effective for these colors.
-
Preparing for your treatment is easy!
Shave the area 12-24 hours before your session
Skip plucking, waxing, or threading for at least 4 weeks prior to ensure the root is intact
Pause active products like tretinoin or retinoids on the treatment area a few days prior
Avoid tanning (sun exposure, tanning beds, and fake tanners) for at least 2 weeks before treatment
