Chemical Peel FAQs
-
A chemical peel is a professional skin-resurfacing treatment that uses specialized solutions (such as glycolic, salicylic, lactic, or TCA acids) to gently dissolve the bonds holding dead skin cells together. By disrupting this damaged outer layer, it reveals fresh, smooth, and radiant skin underneath while stimulating your skin’s natural production from the deepest layers.

Chemical peels are incredibly versatile! They are great for addressing multiple different concerns such as:
Fine lines and winkles
Sun damage and dark spots (hyperpigmentation)
Acne and post-breakout marks
Uneven skin tone and rough texture
Dullness and enlarged pores
-
Not necessarily! The term “peel” describes what happens on a cellular level, but visible peeling varies depending on the strength of the peel (light, medium, or deep). Some clients experience flaking, while others experience no visible peeling at all!
-
Most clients feel a mild tingling, warming, or prickling sensation for a few minutes while the acid is active on the skin. Chemical peels are formulated to be manageable, and we often use cooling fans to keep you comfortable throughout the process.

To ensure the safest and best results:
Pause active ingredients like retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, tretinoin, and exfoliants 3 to 5 days before your appointment
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for 1 to 2 weeks prior
Avoid waxing or hair removal n the treatment area for 5 to 7 days before
-
Downtime depends on the depth of the peel, but generally light/superficial peels result in slight redness for a few hours and mild flaking around days 3 to 5. Medium/deep peels may result in 3-7 days of mild redness, skin tightness, and noticeable peeling or flaking.
-
You’ll notice a healthy glow and smoother texture just after one session! However, for deeper skin concerns like stubborn dark spots, acne scars, or fine lines, a series of 3 to 6 peels spaced 3-4 weeks apart is typically recommended for an optimal transformation.
-
Yes! Because chemical peels come in a wide range of formulas and strengths, there are options safe for sensitive skin, rosacea-prone skin, and deeper skin tones. Consulting with a professional and choosing the correct acid blend ensures safe, glowing results without triggering hyperpigmentation.

It’s best to let your skin breathe and rest for at least 24 to 48 hours post-treatment. Applying makeup too soon can clog fresh pores or irritate healing skin. Once any active peeling subsides, you can return to your normal makeup routine.
